Ariana Grande has been in charge of the U.K. singles chart for four consecutive weeks now, though not all of those frames at the top are thanks to one track. For three weeks in a row, her hit single “7 Rings” ruled, but now that tune has been replaced. Grande’s latest single, “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored,” debuted at No. 1 in the country, giving the singer her fifth chart-topper across the pond. Amazingly, both “7 Rings” and “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored” debuted at No. 1 (as did previous cut “Thank U, Next,” though that title is no longer present on the listing).
With the arrival of “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored,” “7 Rings” dips to second place for the first time since it dropped…but that’s not the only big news concerning the pop singer this week in the U.K.
Singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi jumps up the ranking with his current single “Someone You Loved,” which just last week rose into the top 10 and settled at No. 9 for the first time. This time around, it vaults to No. 3, setting a new career high for the musician.
Most of the rest of the songs inside the top 10 slip slightly this week, as Grande’s incoming ruler has displaced a lot of hits. Sam Smith and Normani’s “Dancing With a Stranger” backtracks to No. 4, Mabel’s “Don’t Call Me Up” manages to hold at No. 5, Calvin Harris and Rag’N’Bone Man’s “Giant” steps down to No. 6, and Post Malone’s “Wow.” likewise retreats to No. 7.
The second new title that debuts inside the top 10 this week comes from Grande once again, who is having an incredible time on the charts thanks to her new album Thank U, Next. In addition to new single “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored” kicking off as high as a song can climb, album cut “Needy” opens at No. 8. “Needy” is Grande’s twelfth top 10 in the U.K. and her fifth from Thank U, Next.
The last two spots inside the uppermost tier on the songs ranking are filled by Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’ “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” at No. 9 and Billie Eilish’s new hit “Bury a Friend” in last place.
