A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Bristol.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary launched a murder investigation following the death of a man last night (June 21).
Emergency services were called to St Paul’s at around 5.50pm, following an incident close to where Ashley Road meets City Road.
The air ambulance was called to the area but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered stab wounds.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and police have now revealed a 14-year-old boy was also arrested in the early hours of this morning (June 22).
Forensic investigators have been examining the area, and a cordon remains in place.
Police ‘trying to build a picture’ of what happened before ‘tragic incident’
Senior Investigating Officer Andy Mott said: “We are working really hard to fully understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.
“We’ve already spoken to lots of people and we want to thank the local community for their support.
“We have made two arrests but we’re still trying to build a picture of what happened leading up to the incident.
“Ashley Road and City Road are both very busy commuter routes just before 6pm on a Friday evening. It is also an area with lots of residential properties.
“We know there were probably people in nearby properties or people walking and driving through these roads that could have key information that will help with our investigation.
“Our plea is for you to come forward and talk to us if you were in the area and you haven’t already spoken with a police officer.
“We would also like to thank residents for their patience while roads in their neighbourhood are closed off to allow investigations take place at the scene. We are doing our best to ensure that we get those roads open as soon as possible.”
Speaking to Bristol Live last night, a delivery driver, who was passing the scene shortly after the incident took place, said: “There must be about eight police cars here, and three or four ambulance vehicles – a big crowd must have gathered really quickly.
“Everyone has said there was a stabbing, that’s what the neighbours have said.”
Another eyewitness said: “The man was trying to get up and everyone was telling him to stay down.”
